Cleveland Pradaxa Lawyers Welcome Your Questions March 10, 2014.

August 19, 2012, USA Today reported that Pradaxa had prompted 3,781 people to file adverse side effect reports with the FDA in 2011. More than 500 people had died while taking the drug. February 18, 2014, Cleveland’s newsnet5 "found more complaints were filed with the FDA about Pradaxa than any other prescription drug in both 2011 and 2012."

The FDA has not recalled the blood thinner, but it has issued a number of safety communications concerning the risk of severe bleeding while taking the drug.

Back in 2012, Bloomberg stated that Pradaxa manufacturer Boehringer Ingelheim was facing more than 150 lawsuits and possibly thousands more in the future.

"It’s going to be one of the larger mass torts in the history of the United States," one attorney told USA Today. Unfortunately, clients who file dangerous drug lawsuits "are treated as no more than a claim number," the website stated. "As if to indicate the enormity of the case, [the lawyer] at one point asked: ‘Can you remind me of my client’s name?'"

You’ve probably seen TV commercials, billboards, and other advertisements inviting you to contact a firm with your Pradaxa questions. But, as one mass tort law professor told USA Today, "If you have an attorney just representing you, then you can be confident about the outcome. [I]f an attorney’s representing 1,000 people, it’s a little bit of a harder sell to think you’re getting the best individual representation."

Here at Mellino Law Firm, we don’t advertise, so our success depends on word-of-mouth testimonials from clients. And since personal injury claims are time consuming and labor intensive, we’re selective about the cases we accept. Some firms take every case that walks in the door, settle those cases for the first amount the defendant offers in order to fund their next commercial, and leave clients in the hands of "case managers." We only pursue compensation for people who’ve suffered a severe injury or disability. By limiting the number of claims we accept, we’re able to give each one the unique attention it deserves. And, when you call us, you will speak to us, not an assistant.

If you were injured while taking Pradaxa, attorney Chris Mellino welcomes you to contact our Cleveland office for a free consultation.
