Decision Reversed at the Court of Appeals
The trial court found in favor of two doctors against our client without a trial and before a jury even got to hear any evidence. The judge refused to let our expert testify at trial because he was temporarily unable to work for a few months because of impacted kidney stones and a torn achilles tendon. The court also would not allow a new expert to be substituted for the injured expert. We got this decision reversed by the Court of Appeals who agreed with us that both of these decisions were unfair. As a result our client will get her day in court and have her case heard by a jury with the new expert.
Mary Rutt’s 7 Year Anniversary
Mary Rutt had her 7 year anniversary with The Mellino Law Firm on August 23rd. When she was hired in 2016 she was originally the Client Care Coordinator, in 2018 she became a Legal Assistant and then in 2020 she became a Paralegal. We are so grateful for Mary and for everything she does for us!
We Held An Open House Event
The Mellino Law Firm held our first Open House Event in 5 years! Our newest team member, Emma Netkowicz, was in charge of planning the event. We had the Off The GRIDdle food truck, a photo booth from Rock The House, and macarons from Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes. Even though there was a huge storm that evening, the event went wonderfully. If you couldn't make it, we hope to see you next time!
Payton Jackimiec Finished Her Summer Internship
Payton Jakiemiec was hired as our summer law clerk intern. Payton is currently in her third year of law school at Case Western Reserve University. We hope Payton enjoyed her time with us and learned a lot that will help her in the future.
